Oak & Ribbon

Oak & Ribbon

Crafting a new tradition

Oak & Ribbon was set up by Mark Evans, who started his business crafting personalised oak gifts from his garage. Since then, the company has grown and now crafts bespoke oak products of any scale whilst staying true to traditional methods of carpentry.

They have long set themselves apart through meticulous craft and attention to detail. Their process follows the natural formation of the oak rather than creating products against the grain of the wood. It’s designed by nature and crafted by Oak & Ribbon.

The aim of the rebrand was to create a sense of timeless modernity with a crafted logo that embodies the ethos of Oak & Ribbon.

Visual and verbal identity, art direction, copywriting, brand guidelines.

I created a bespoke typeface that was influenced by the construction process. The letterforms on the logo are slightly chamfered in style to mirror the popular method of joining oak together, called a ‘bow-tie’.

The messaging reflects the detail of the craft that can often go a-miss, whilst also communicating the effort and care that goes into every product.
